Occupational Therapy The Occupational Therapy Department at Tri-Valley Orthopedic Specialists works closely with our hand surgeons to evaluate and treat upper extremity injuries, involving the elbow, wrist and hand. Our certified hand therapist works closely with the physician and patient to provide a continuum of care from initial injury to return-to-work and ultimately maximum function. Each patient is evaluated by the Occupational Therapist and an individualized treatment plan is developed. The therapist may on occasion create customized splints for protection of injuries or post-operative conditions, and often does ergonomic evaluations for patients in order to prevent further stress or strain to injured areas. Conditions which are commonly seen include Wrist and Finger Fractures, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Elbow and Wrist Tendonitis, Post-Surgical Hands and Wrists, and many more. Our Occupational Therapy Department is located in our Pleasanton office. Please call 866-623-7600 for more information or to schedule an appointment. Barbara Fong, OTR/L, CHT, our Occupational Therapy Director, is a Certified Hand Therapist with advanced study and certification for rehabilitation of disorders of the upper extremity. She has specialized in hand therapy for nearly 20 years. Her approach to rehabilitation is to put every patient at ease, educate them about their physical injury to ensure that the patient achieves maximum individualized function, and to keep the physician and patient informed about their condition during the entire rehabilitation process.
